Bob Tanner has been teaching for many Years. Starting in Southampton at the Fagan School of Dancing he took all the Ballroom Medals and Awards. He was also became a members of the Formation Team.

Bob soon took a professional qualification with the National Society of Teachers of Dancing and started to teach at the school.

The dance school had to move premises so Bob decided to go it alone, and so the Tanner-J School of Dance was borne.

He taught Ballroom dancing in halls in the Southampton area and when Rock 'N' Roll became popular he soon had a young team that was very sucessful and was training pupils for medals.

He saw an advert in the Dance News for qualified teachers to teach in the Top Rank Victor Silvester Dance Studios. He applied and was accepted. He was thrown in at the deep end! He became principal of the Gateshead Studios averaging 100 pupils a night and 250 on Saturdays!

When Top Rank opened a new studio in Plymouth he was offered it and accepted. The studio was a huge success and had top junior attendances in the UK. For various reasons Top Rank decided to close many studios outside of London and so Bob once again decided to go it alone.

His first Plymouth studio was on Mutley Plain but he later moved to Devonport where he has been teaching ever since!
